A Busy Week In The Massachusetts Insurance Industry

November 5, 2019 by Agency Checklists

Three major insurance events occurred in the past week in Massachusetts, Insurtech Boston, ACORD 2019, and the MAIA’s Big Event. Here is a quick recap of each:

A Strong Turn-Out For Insurtech Boston

The sixth edition of Insurtech Boston on Tuesday, October 29th, saw a wide swath of the Massachusetts and New England insurance industry come out to support innovation in the insurance industry.

The event, held at the Seaport’s District Hall, featured start-up stories from Tarmika, Wunderite, Openly, among others, cocktail, networking and a live-streaming of the event, courtesy of Insurance Nerds’ Nick Lamparelli.

For those who were unable to attend, here is a link to the live-streaming session which featured among others Social Survey’s John Bachmann, Paradiso Insurance President Christopher Paradiso, ILABs Executive Director Paul Tetrault, Veruna President Jon Lincoln, Ask Kodiak’s Michael Albert and more.

ACORD CONNECT 2019

The ACORD Conference has been held in Boston during the same week as the MAIA”s Big Event for a few years now. While a big event, it is not one that Agency Checklists has typically covered.

With that said, Abel Travis, the host of the The Insurance Innovators Unscripted was there and celebrated his podcast’s 100th episode by broadcasting live at the event. For those who are interested in listening to it, you can do so here:

Facts & Figures From The Big Event

The Massachusetts Association of Insurance Agents held its annual agents meeting and trade show “The Big Event” last week over four days at the Copley Marriott in Boston. “Power of the Past – Force of the Future” was the tagline for this year’s event which also featured a theme of Music from the 1980’s.

Taking a look at the numbers, there was approximately 2,087 attendees, a number similar to attendance at the event during the past years. The Big Event continues to be the largest state association trade show in the nation and includes the MAIA annual meeting, the induction of the new MAIA Board Members, a Young Agents Mixer, the Arbella Gourmet Luncheon, a two-day trade show, as well as the ever popular cocktail hour hosted by Boston Software. In addition to these events, Continuing Education classes and seminars are offered throughout the four day event .

In addition to the 2,087 attendees, there were 50+ industry partners along with 136 Exhibitors who exhibited during the two day trade show.

Agency Checklists appreciates everyone who stopped by our booth to say hello and to enter our raffle. We will announce the winner later this week.
