Wunderite Powers Digital 1st Model For New Mass. Agency

March 2, 2021 by AC Editor

The Boston-based Insurtech has digitized the sales process for the Dremca Agency and its partner Acadia Insurance

Envisioning a new model for independent agents and their carrier partners, Boston-based Wunderite has announced its first partnership with Dremca, a new Massachusetts-based digital-first agency founded by the Massachusetts independent agent Dennis Murphy. The new partnership showcases how independent agencies can collaborate with insurance carriers in new and more effective ways to allow a more modernized purchase experience for an agency’s insureds.

“As a former independent agent, I know there is tremendous growth potential for agents to do business entirely online,” said Peter MacDonald, CEO and co-founder of Wunderite. “Working with the Dremca and Acadia teams, we relentlessly focused on improving the customer experience while digitizing back office processes.”

An inland marine policy is the first offering available in Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, & Connecticut

The first offering of this new partnership is an inland marine policy underwritten by Maine-based Acadia Insurance. The product is designed for both individuals and business purchasing small equipment including tractors, utility vehicles, and skid steers.

“Independent agents need easier ways to offer quality products,” said Matthew McManus, AVP Specialty Marine for Acadia. “With Dremca, the Wunderite team made it easy. We have high hopes for this innovative opportunity.”

How Wunderite facilitates the workflow between Dremca & Acadia

For Dremca, Wunderite provides a modern, full-stack web-application that digitizes agency workflows and automates quoting, binding, and proof-of-insurance issuance. For Acadia, Wunderite provides a 100 percent digital new business workflow that, in partnership with Dremca’s independent agent distribution footprint, strengthens existing sales channels.

“Wunderite’s technology facilitates a new model for independent agents and their carrier partners who are willing to work together,” said Dennis Murphy, founder of Dremca. “This partnership finally allows independent agents like us to deliver instant, transparent, up-front pricing and a nearly instantaneous purchase experience to our customers. This is what customers expect in our on-demand world. To make it easy for customers, we have to align quality, speed, and accuracy. Working with Wunderite and Acadia makes it possible.”

More about Wunderite

Wunderite co-founders Peter MacDonald and Joe Schnare

Founded by insurance industry and small business veterans Peter MacDonald and Joe Schnare, Wunderite makes insurance transparent and approachable by simplifying and automating the sales and underwriting process. A former Massachusetts independent agency with his family’s agency, Murray and MacDonald Insurance Services, Peter MacDonald has extensive experience in the insurance sphere, recently obtaining an MBS with distinction from Boston College, in addition to having achieved his CPCU, CRM, CIC, and LIA designation. Co-founder Joe Schnare, also based in Boston, spent seven years with his family’s wholesale distribution business where he was “the de-facto head of IT” before teaming up with Mr. MacDonald at Boston College, where he also obtained his MBA, to start Wunderite.

The intuitive, customer-facing platform for independent insurance agencies the duo has created with Wunderite is backed by techstars – Boston Accelerator, BrokerTech Ventures and DormRoomFund.
