Gas prices are up another three cents in Massachusetts. According to the latest data from AAA Northeast the average gas price is up three cents from last week ($2.74), and now averages $2.77 per gallon. As of April 26, 2021, this price is 1 cent higher than a month ago ($2.76), and 83 cents higher than April 26, 2020 ($1.94). While a significant increase, AAA notes that Massachusetts’s average gas price continue to be about 11 cents lower than the national average.
“Both demand and supply have steadily increased over the last several weeks,” said Mary Maguire, AAA Northeast Director of Public and Government Affairs. “The jump in demand combined with a small increase in supply pushed the national gas price average two cents more expensive on the week to $2.88. This is the largest one-week national jump we’ve seen in five weeks.”
AAA Northeast’s April 26 survey of fuel prices found the current national average to be 1 cent higher than last week ($2.87), averaging $2.88 a gallon. Today’s national average price is 2 cents higher than a month ago ($2.86), and $1.11 higher than this day last year ($1.77).
