MountainOne Acquires Cross Insurance of Pittsfield

January 11, 2022 by AC Editor

Cross Insurance of Pittsfield was a combination of two former Pittsfield-based independent agencies

MountainOne Insurance Agency, a mutual holding company headquartered in North Adams, has announced its purchase of Cross Insurance of Pittsfield. As a result of the merger, MountainOne will now rank as one of the largest insurance agencies in the Berkshires in terms of clients under management and with a staff of 50 spread across six locations.

“The acquisition of Cross Insurance in Pittsfield furthers MountainOne’s commitment to the communities we serve,” said Jonathan Denmark, President & COO, MountainOne Insurance Agency.  “The combined agency will now be able to offer products and solutions from an expanded roster of insurance companies.”

“While the name will change to MountainOne Insurance, the location will remain at 101 South Street in Pittsfield. We are thrilled to be expanding our presence into downtown Pittsfield and will carry on the traditions of excellence that Cross and the prior agencies were known for,” said Denmark.

According to the terms of the transaction, the entire Cross Insurance team will continue on with MountainOne after completion of the sale. No further terms of the transaction were disclosed.

Formed in 2016, Cross Insurance in Pittsfield was the result of Cross’ purchase of two Pittsfield-based agencies: Bardwell, Bowlby & Karam Insurance Agency and Colt Insurance Agency.
