May 10, 2022 by AC Editor

The two sister agencies are located in the Newburyport area

Cross Insurance has acquired two new property and casualty insurance agencies, the Harold Humphrey Insurance Agency and the Byfield Insurance Agency, Inc. Operating under the Brownson Insurance Agency brand name, both sister agencies are located in the Newburyport area. Going forward, Humphrey & Byfield will both operate under the name Cross Insurance-Newburyport with Dave Messersmith, President of Cross Insurance-Coastal Region serving as the regional president for Cross Insurance’s Newburyport office.

“We look forward to expand our service operations into Newburyport, particularly in a robust coastal community,” said Dave Messersmith, President of Cross Insurance- Coastal Region.  “We know the Humphrey & Byfield Agency, and its talented staff will be a tremendous fit for Cross as we look to grow and flourish throughout the region.”

The company also announced the opening of an additional Newburyport office

In addition to acquiring both Brownson Insurance Agencies, Cross Insurance also announced the expansion of its presence in this area with the opening of a Newburyport, MA branch office located at Port Plaza Shopping Center, East Shops, 45 Story Avenue, Newburyport. With this new location, the family-owned agency is looking to bolster its coastal presence in the Massachusetts marketplace.

“We are thrilled to welcome Humphrey & Byfield Agency to the Cross Insurance family of agencies,” said Jonathan Cross, President of Cross Insurance. With the acquisition and Cross’s new Newburyport branch office, we look forward to better serve the needs of our existing New England coastal clients while also opening the doors wide open for new ones as well.”

Cross Insurance-Newburyport will provide a comprehensive insurance platform available to expand the coastal region, while utilizing the largest outreach of marketplace availability in the region. Above are photos showing the new office space.
