Includes Prominent Role in Guiding the NAIC’s Strategic Priorities
The New Hampshire Insurance Department (NHID) has been recognized with significant committee and task force assignments for the 2025 term at the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC). Commissioner DJ Bettencourt has retained his leadership position within the Northeast Zone and will continue to play a critical role in shaping national insurance policies and regulations.
Commissioner Bettencourt’s assignments include membership on the influential Executive (EX) Committee, a position that underscores his prominent role in guiding the NAIC’s strategic priorities. Additionally, he has been named to the Health Insurance and Managed Care (B) Committee, Market Regulation and Consumer Affairs (D) Committee, and International Insurance Relations (G) Committee, demonstrating the NHID’s breadth of expertise and commitment to advancing regulatory excellence.
Notably, Commissioner Bettencourt will serve as Chair of the Casualty Actuarial and Statistical (C) Task Force, reflecting his leadership in addressing critical issues related to casualty insurance and actuarial standards. Furthermore, he has been appointed Vice Chair of the NAIC/Consumer Liaison Committee, reinforcing the NHID’s dedication to promoting transparency and protecting consumer interests.
In addition, Michelle Heaton, Director of Life and Health, has been named as a member of both the Regulatory Framework (B) Task Force and the Senior Issues (B) Task Force. These assignments highlight the department’s active involvement in shaping policies that address evolving regulatory frameworks and the needs of senior citizens in the insurance market.
