Former CEO Thomas A. Harris to step down after 35 years with the insurer

Quincy Mutual is pleased to announce that Gerald F. Cox has joined the company as President and Chief Executive Officer.

Jerry brings nearly three decades of insurance experience, most recently as Chief Financial Officer of Hiscox USA. Before Hiscox, Jerry spent more than twenty years at The Hartford in roles spanning commercial lines, personal lines, and enterprise finance. Jerry is committed to continuing diligent stewardship, enduring relationships, and an unwavering commitment to policyholders and independent agents.

“I am honored and excited to join Quincy Mutual as the new CEO,” said Jerry Cox. “Our company has a great legacy of service to customers, agents, and employees and this will continue as we look forward. I have a tremendous amount of pride in our company’s 175 years of history. Together our focus will be on protecting all that has made Quincy Mutual great while expanding our market penetration and continuing to deliver exceptional service to customers and our trading partners. I am excited to embark on this journey,” Mr. Cox concluded.

“Our customers, agents, and employees are at the center of everything we do,” shared Executive Chairman, K. Douglas Briggs and former Chief Executive Officer, Thomas A.  Harris. “Throughout his career, and since joining Quincy Mutual, Jerry has demonstrated that he shares our belief that long-term success is achieved through strong relationships, and we look forward to the perpetuation of lasting partnerships at Quincy Mutual.”

Mr. Briggs added, “On behalf of the Board of Directors, Quincy Mutual would like to thank Tom Harris for his service, leadership, and lasting impact on our organization. Throughout his 35 year career at the company, Tom has led with integrity, vision, and an unwavering commitment to our policyholders, agents, and employees.
