The proposed CAR amendments are available for viewing at the offices of the Division of Insurance
The Division of Insurance has announced that it will be holding a public hearing in August to court public opinion regarding the proposed amendments to the Performance Standards for the Handling and Payment of Private Passenger Claims by Assigned Risk Companies and to Performance Standards for the Handling and Payment of Commercial Claims by Servicing Carriers as adopted by Commonwealth Automobile Reinsurers. On June 18, 2014, CAR voted to amend the above-mentioned “Performance Standards.”
Pursuant to his authority under G.L. c. 175, §113H, the Commissioner of Insurance has scheduled a public hearing to discuss this issue on August 7, 2014 at 10:00 AM at the offices of the Division of Insurance, 1000 Washington Street, Boston, MA 02118-6200. Both oral and/or written comments regarding the proposed “Performance Standards” will be received. Any Massachusetts insurance professional interested in participating in the public hearing by providing either oral or written comments on the proposed “Performance Standards” may do so by submitting a Notice of Intent to Comment request to the Division no later than August 5, 2014. The Division says all other interested parties will be heard at the meeting only after those who provide advance notice to the Division of their intent to comment.
