REMINDER: DOI Public Comment Sessions on Auto Insurance Today

August 11, 2015 by AC Editor

This article first appeared on Agency Checklists on July 21st. We are reprinting it to remind anyone interested in attending the sessions which begin this morning at 10:30 AM.

Agency Checklists Contact Us GraphicAs part of a statewide effort, the Division of Insurance has announced that it will be undertaking an extensive review of all of its existing regulations in order to determine those regulations that “…may have become outdated, ineffective or counter-intuitive.”  Specifically, the Division is seeking to identify: [pullquote]Public comment: Auto Ins. Regs.  August 11th from 10:30 – 12:30am[/pullquote]

  • …whether any costs associated with the regulation exceed the benefits that result from the particular regulation;
  • whether the regulation exceeds federal requirements or duplicate local requirements; whether less restrictive alternatives to the particular regulation exist; and
  • whether the regulation unduly and adversely affects Massachusetts citizens and consumers, or the competitive environment in Massachusetts.

To assist it in the review of these existing regulations, the Division has scheduled public sessions throughout the month of August to hear testimony and receive comment from the public and/or interested insurance industry members concerning the DOI’s existing regulations. The six public comment sessions scheduled will be organized by a specific insurance subject-matter topic.

The public comment session on the DOI’s regulations concerning automobile insurance will take place on Tuesday, August 11th from 10:30 – 12:30am.

For those interested in attending, the public comment sessions are open to both the general public and insurance industry members. They will take place at the Division’s offices located at 1000 Washington Street, Boston in Hearing Room 1-E.

These are the last of the comment sessions taking place today and tomorrow

Tuesday, August 11, 2015 – 10:30am – 12:30pm
