The John C. Gallagher Insurance Agency Joins Kaplansky Insurance

September 10, 2019 by AC Editor

This is the agency’s 33rd agency acquisition overall

Kaplansky Insurance has added the John C. Gallagher Insurance Agency to its growing ranks. The Gallagher Agency is the second acquisition for the Needham-based agency and its 33rd agency acquisition over all.

The acquisition of Gallagher is integral to the future growth of Kaplansky. This acquisition presents a compelling opportunity to continue our rapid expansion throughout Massachusetts. Our commitment to our communities, clients and our company partners will remain the foundation for all we do,” said Ely Kaplansky, President, and CEO of Kaplansky Insurance.

Founded over 50 years ago in Fields Corner, Gallagher Insurance has been focused on providing personal lines insurance options to its clientele in Dorchester for five decades. According to the terms of the transaction, Mr. Gallagher, who is the second-generation owner of the agency, will retire from the agency after the completion of the sale.

For those readers who are interested, Mr. Gallagher happened to be one of the first independent agents interviewed by Agency Checklists. That interview can be accessed here, “Musings on the MAIP from the Urban and Urbane Agent, John Gallagher of The John C. Gallagher Insurance Agency.”

With the addition of the Gallagher Agency, Kaplansky Insurance has now acquired 33 agencies over its four decades in business. The following is a re-cap of the four most recent Massachusetts agencies it has acquired in 2018 and 2019:

  • Make It 32 – Kaplansky Insurance Acquires The KW Insurance Agency
  • Kaplansky Acquires Its 30th Independent Insurance Agency in Massachusetts
  • Kaplansky Insurance Acquires Massachusetts’ Kelleher & Mackey Agency
  • Kaplansky Insurance Acquires The Anthony & Malcolm Agency
  • And Then There Were 31: Kaplansky Insurance Acquires Burak Insurance

In commenting on this latest acquisition, Mr. Kaplansky notes that 2019 will likely be another year of expansion for the agency.

“We continue to remain focused on adding high-quality agencies with a solid reputation and talented colleagues with a dedication to client service,” added Mr. Kaplansky.
