Connecticut Insurance Department Launches New Online Consumer Information Center

December 4, 2025 by AC Editor

Connecticut Insurance Department (CID) Commissioner Andrew N. Mais today announced the launch of the Consumer Information Center, a comprehensive online resource designed to empower residents with information to help them better understand and navigate their insurance coverage and make informed decisions about the protection they need.

The Consumer Information Center brings together interactive tools and key resources across major lines of insurance, including health, auto, homeowners, long term care, life insurance and annuities, and flood insurance. The site also features quizzes, checklists, and the Department’s newly launched Climate Risk Mapping Tool.

This initiative supports one of CID’s top strategic priorities for 2025, consumer education – by improving access to reliable, easy-to-understand insurance information. The platform will continue to grow as the Department adds new content, tools, and features.

“Our goal is to give residents clear information they can trust, presented in a way that helps them make confident decisions about protecting their homes, their health, and their financial well-being,” Commissioner Mais said. “Insurance can be complicated, but it does not have to be. The Consumer Information Center offers one central place where people can find straightforward answers and practical resources, and it will continue to evolve to meet the needs of Connecticut residents for years to come.”

Consumer Information Center Highlights:

  • The Life Insurance Policy Locator tool to help families find lost or unknown life insurance policies.
  • The Climate Risk Mapping Tool, which provides property-level risk assessments of flood, wildfire, wind, extreme heat, and other perils.
  • Consumer checklists, quizzes, and step-by-step guides for understanding coverage and filing claims.
  • Information on insurance rights, protections, common questions, and how to submit complaints for assistance with insurance disputes or problems. The Department averages more than 5 million dollars each year in recoveries for consumers.

The Consumer Information Center can be accessed here.
