Don’t be Scammed – The Bureau of Insurance Warns Public of False Websites Claiming to Represent the Fortify Maine Homes Program

April 14, 2026 by AC Editor

Warning about new scam involving fraudulent websites impersonating the Maine Fortify Homes roof replacement program
The Maine Bureau of Insurance is warning consumers about fake websites posing as the Fortify Maine Homes Program.

Bureau Issues Warning on Scam Websites

The Bureau of Insurance is alerting consumers to a new scam and to beware of false websites claiming to represent the Bureau’s new Fortify Maine Homes roof replacement program.

Consumers should avoid any websites not hosted by www.maine.gov that offer to check eligibility or provide information about the Fortify Maine Homes Program.  They are not affiliated with the Program or the Maine Bureau of Insurance.

The Maine Bureau of Insurance website – www.maine.gov/pfr/insurance/home – is the only website where Maine consumers can access information about the Fortify Maine Homes Program.  Consumers can click “Fortify Maine Homes Program” at the top of the Bureau of Insurance homepage to access this Program’s information at https://www.maine.gov/pfr/insurance/fortify-maine

Applications for the Program are not being accepted at this time.  Please check the Bureau of Insurance’s Fortify Maine Homes Program website for updates on the Program and the application process.
