And now insurance for iPads

February 4, 2011 by AC Editor

Personal property insurance provider Worth Ave Group has announced that it now provides personal property insurance for iPads.  The company, based in Stillwater, OK, has been specializing in personal property insurance for laptops, cell phones and MacBooks since 1971 and is affiliated with National Student Services, Inc. and Student Insurance Partners, a laptop insurer for K-12 schools.  The company has been accredited by the Better Business Bureau since April 13, 2010 and currently has a rating of A+.  The company is also licensed in every state and is underwritten by The Hanover Insurance Company, headquartered in Worcester, Massachusetts.

Under the terms of the iPad policy, the Worth Ave Group states that insurance can be purchased anytime after the purchase of your iPad and it will  provide worldwide replacement cost coverage for a full calendar year from the date of the contract.  The Worth Ave Group claims that their iPad coverage goes above and beyond AppleCare coverage because it will insure against cracked screens, drops, liquid spills and more and includes only a $50 deductible.  Premiums for an individual iPad policy begin at $37 a year for a 16GB ipad costing $499 up to $67 annually for a 64GB + 3G iPad costing approximately $829.  Each policy covers only the property of 1 iPad and its “peripherals.”  Peripherals include a keyboard dock, iPad case and Dock Station.

Losses covered during the policy period include Accidental Damage including drops and spills; Cracked Screens; Theft; Vandalism; Fire; Flood; Natural Disasters; and Power Surges due to Lightening.  Under the terms of the policy, the losses will cover an iPad you either own or have leased “…including corporate or school issued iPads entrusted to you, worldwide, except as excluded in the Special Provisions section.   Mysterious disappearances, mechanical or electrical breakdowns, wear and tear, corrosion and rust, nor nuclear war and government seizure are covered.

For more information about obtaining insurance for your iPad, you may contact the Worth Ave Group at 800.620.2885 or at their website here.  If you are unsure about reading the terms of the policy or have any other legal questions, please contact us here.
