Norwell Agencies Merge To Create Gordon Atlantic Insurance

September 13, 2016 by AC Editor

The two agencies formally merged earlier this month

Geoff Gordon, CFP®, CIC, CRM, president of Andrew G. Gordon, Inc., and Jeff Helm, CIC, LIA, president of Atlantic Advisers have announced the merger of their agencies. In a joint announcement, the agencies have stated that as of this month, their combined agencies, formerly the independent insurance agencies Andrew G. Gordon Insurance and Atlantic Advisers Insurance Agency, will operate as Gordon Atlantic.

“The insurance industry has grown increasingly complex and competitive in the past decade. Combining our two companies allows us to provide you with a wider and deeper range of services, gives us additional resources and expertise, and (perhaps most important) gives us more ‘clout’ in representing our customers with insurance carriers so that we can remain a competitive force on their behalf,” said Geoff Gordon, who will serve as president of Gordon Atlantic Insurance.

In addition to this newly created agency, a separate division, known as Gordon Atlantic Advisors, LLC, has also been created to service specialized risk assessment and risk management services for businesses. Both Gordon Atlantic Insurance and Gordon Atlantic Advisors will continue to be headquartered in Norwell at 306 Washington Street.

Geoff Gordon

The former Andrew G. Gordon Insurance has been an independent insurance agency based in Norwell for over 100 years. First founded by Ebenezer Fogg in the 1840s, the agency was purchased by Andrew Gordon and renamed in 1953. Mr. Gordon’s son, Geoff Gordon, eventually took over the helm of the agency from his father. For the past three decades, the family-owned agency has continued to serve homeowners and businesses throughout the South Shore and eastern Massachusetts.

In an interesting aside, Mr. Gordon also happened to be the first agent that we ever interviewed for our site. For those interested, the interview is available here. Agency Checklists, May 6, 2011,”Talking with Geoff Gordon of the Andrew G. Gordon, Inc. Insurance Agency.”
