Arbella Insurance Welcomes Julia Kim

Ms. Kim joins the Quincy-based insurer as AVP of Application Development & Architecture

QUINCY, Mass. – The Arbella Insurance Group is pleased to announce the appointment of Julia Kim as assistant vice president of Application Development & Architecture. Reporting to Paul Brady, senior vice president and CIO, Kim will be responsible for continuing Arbella’s technology transformation journey by modernizing legacy technology, advancing data analytics technologies and improving technology to support and advance capabilities for our agents and policyholders. 

“Julia is a driven, experienced leader with a focus on results and a deep understanding of the strategic business goals that drive IT infrastructure and systems,” said Brady. “She brings a breadth of skills including Application Development, Data Engineering, Agile, Dev Ops, Release Management, IT Security, Vendor Management and Project Management while also contributing greatly to the culture of an organization by developing programs designed to recruit and retain top talent and support many Diversity & Inclusion efforts.”   

Previously serving as the head of workplace operations technology for Mass Mutual, Kim joins Arbella with more than 30 years of experience serving in technology leadership roles. Kim started her career in journalism but quickly moved into technology where she was a COBOL programmer and IMS/DB2 Data Engineer at Blue Cross Blue Shield of MA. In 1992, she took a position at Fidelity Investments where she had increasing levels of leadership including the role of vice president of Data Engineering and Business Intelligence. More recently she served as the head of technology program services at Income Research + Management where she built their first project management office (PMO) and led their transformation from Waterfall to Agile.  

Kim received a BA in Journalism and Advertising from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. She is a resident of Somerville and is passionate about charity work and regularly volunteers in her community.
