Barbara J. Wonsek, 93, formerly of West Springfield, died in Agawam at The Atrium at Cardinal Drive. Born in West Springfield, she graduated from West Springfield High School. After graduation she worked her entire forty-year career at Liberty Mutual Insurance Company, starting as a telephone operator and ending as their first female insurance agent. She served on the ski patrol at Paucatuck ski area and was a member of the “Top of the Hill Gang” ski club at Mt. Tom. She was an avid golfer, and enjoyed gardening at her 326 Dewey Street home. For many years, she organized the class of 1945 reunions for West Springfield High School.
She was happily married to husband Ed Wonsek, who passed in 2001 after 55 years of marriage. She is survived by her sister Marion Marcik of New Haven, CT…The family wishes to express their appreciation to the entire staff at The Atrium for their compassionate care and support.
