This marks the second agency acquisition for Duffy Insurance so far this year
Duffy Insurance Agency has announced its second agency acquisition in Massachusetts for the year 2021. The Peabody-based agency has entered into an agreement with the A.J. George Insurance Agency, a personal lines insurance agency also based in Peabody.
“We are excited to welcome Pete George, A.J. George Insurance Agency, and its customers into the
Duffy Family of Insurance Agencies. Peter and I have known each other a long time and have enjoyed a
great relationship. Peter has worked very hard for a long time and I am really happy for him and his
family,” said Marc Duffy of Duffy Insurance Agency.
A.J. George has been an independent agency in Peabody for over six decades
Founded in 1959 in by Anthony George, the A.J. George Insurance Agency has been offering home, auto, and small business insurance from its Peabody location for 62 years. Shortly after its founding, Anthony’s brother Nicholas George joined the agency. In 1978 the agency incorporated, with Nicholas’ son, Peter, joining the agency in 1979. In 2005, he took over as both the president and owner of the agency. In 2015, Peter’s son Anthony joined representing the third generation of the George family.
According to the terms of the transaction, Duffy Insurance will acquire the assets of A.J, George, which will merge and move its office into The Duffy Insurance’s Peabody location. A.J. George’s owner, Peter George
will join as a full-time member of Duffy Insurance Agency’s growing team.

The A.J. George Insurance Agency marks the 2nd merger/acquisition of 2021 that Duffy Insurance has

independent agencies and agency owners in Massachusetts who are considering perpetuation options.
