The Governing Committee of the Automobile Insurers Bureau of Massachusetts (AIB) has appointed William H. Scully as President of the AIB effective January 13, 2025. Mr. Scully has served as Interim President succeeding Kim A. Barber who retired in April, 2024.
AIB has operated in Massachusetts since 1925 providing actuarial expertise and a broad array of products and support for the auto insurance industry in the state. Its members include over 100 insurers writing personal and commercial auto insurance in Massachusetts.
Mr. Scully has been with the AIB since August 2000 serving as Interim President since May 1, 2024 and Vice President, Chief Actuary since 2020. Prior to this, he served as an actuary for two national insurance companies. Mr. Scully has been responsible for all aspects of auto insurance ratemaking and actuarial services for AIB. He provided expert testimony during the “fix-and establish” period for personal auto and manages the AIB advisory rate, rule, and forms programs for both personal and commercial auto. Since managed competition was adopted for personal auto, he has developed new actuarial reports and analyses to support AIB member companies and manages the AIB Vehicle Rating Group program.
Mr. Scully, a graduate of University of Massachusetts in Amherst with a degree in engineering, has a Master of Science Degree in actuarial science from Temple University in Philadelphia and is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS) and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA). He is a resident of Boston.
