PIA Connecticut & CTYIP Elects Officers for 2025-26; McKiernan Named President

Announcements were made during annual convention in March

The Professional Insurance Agents of Connecticut Inc., elected Kevin McKiernan, CIC, CPIA, president during the association’s annual convention held March 20-21, 2025, at Foxwoods Resort and Casino in Mashantucket, Conn. McKiernan is president of Abercrombie, Burns, McKiernan & Co., in Darien, Conn.

An active member of PIA Connecticut since 1997, McKiernan served as president-elect in 2024-25; vice president 2023-24; treasurer in 2022-23, and secretary in 2021-22. Currently, he serves as vice president of PIACT’s Legislative/Business Issues Committee, and he is a member of Administrative/Nominations Committee and the Executive/Budget & Finance Committee. McKiernan also is a member of the association’s Glenmont National Alliance Committee.

McKiernan served two consecutive, three-year terms on the Stamford/Norwalk Judicial District Grievance Panel for the state of Connecticut. He was the only non-attorney who served on the panel. 

Active in his community, McKiernan served on the executive board of the Darien Chamber of Commerce, and he coaches youth basketball and football within the Wilton community.

Other officers elected

The association also elected a full slate of officers during its Annual Business Meeting. Following are the new officers who will lead PIACT in 2025-26:

  • President: Kevin McKiernan, CIC, CPIA, of Wilton, Conn. McKiernan is president of Abercrombie, Burns, McKiernan Co., in Darien, Conn.
  • President-elect: Katie Bailey, ACSR, CLCS, CPIA, of Monroe, Conn. Bailey is an agent with The Russell Agency in Southport, Conn.
  • Treasurer: Kimberly Tompkins, CIC, AIS, AINS, CRIS, ACSR, CPIA, PHM, of Prospect, Conn. Tompkins is senior underwriter for The Mutual Group/GuideOne Mutual in W. Des Moines, Iowa.
  • Secretary: Jeffrey Krar of Southington, Conn. Krar is vice president of Joseph Krar & Associates Inc., in Southington, Conn.
  • Immediate Past President: Nicholas Ruickoldt, CISR, CPIA, of West Haven, Conn. Ruickoldt is a broker for The Russell Insurance Agency LLC in Southport, Conn.

CTYIP also elected its officers, directors at convention

Officers of the Professional Insurance Agents of Connecticut Inc.’s Young Insurance Professionals also were elected March 21, 2025, during PIACT’s Annual Convention, at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Conn. They are as follows:

  • Justin Sloan of the Nesso Group in Milldale, Conn., will serve as president;
  • Robin Ricciardone of RPS Cowles & Connell in Meriden, Conn., will serve as president-elect;
  • Jacklyn Meeker of The Russell Agency LLC in Southport, Conn., will serve as vice president;
  • Kieran Buttrick of Hagerty Insurance in Stratford, Conn., will serve as treasurer;
  • Ryan Keating of Keating Insurance in Hartford, Conn., will serve as secretary; and
  • Ryan Kelly of USI in Meriden, Conn., will serve as immediate past president.

Elected to serve on the CTYIP board of directors are: Kieran Buttrick of Hagerty Insurance in Stratford, Conn.; Jeremy Card, ARM-P, CSRM, CISR, of Memic in Sandy Hook, Conn.; Matthew Higgins of HAI Group in Cheshire, Conn.; Ryan Keating of Keating Insurance in Hartford, Conn.; Jacklyn Meeker of The Russell Agency in Southport, Conn.; Justin Sloan of Nesso Group in Milldale, Conn.; Robyn Ricciardone of RPS Cowles & Connell in Meriden, Conn.; Walker Russell of The Russell Agency in Southport, Conn.; Ryan Vivenzio of CNA Connecticut Branch, Glastonbury, Conn.; and Sean Walsh of Broad Range Benefit Group in Shelton, Conn.
