Arbella Insurance Foundation Celebrates 20th Anniversary by Donating $400,000 to 20 New England Nonprofits

November 6, 2025 by AC Editor

Grants Benefit Organizations Addressing Hunger, Homelessness, Education, and Health Across the Region

The Arbella Insurance Foundation (“Foundation”) is celebrating its 20th anniversary by giving $20,000 grants to 20 nonprofit organizations across New England. These one-time gifts honor the hard work of organizations that Arbella Insurance Group (“Arbella”) employees and Arbella independent agents support in their local communities.

As 2025 began, nonprofits faced significant financial pressure, with 36% reporting budget shortfalls at the end of 2024 and 85% anticipating increased demand for their services this year. In response to these challenges and to commemorate 20 years of giving, the Foundation is increasing support for Arbella employee and agent-connected nonprofits that strengthen New England communities.

“Marking this anniversary is a proud moment for the Arbella Insurance Foundation, as we are committed to helping organizations meet real needs in our neighborhoods,” said John Donohue, Chairman and CEO of the Arbella Insurance Foundation. “Thank you to Arbella employees and agents, who’ve helped us make a measurable impact across New England. These grants offer both funding and awareness to support each organization’s mission.”

The Foundation awarded grants to honorees whose quantitative and qualitative results show significant community impact. Each organization delivers substantive social gains, backed by compelling testimonials that reflect broad community benefit. They combine a deep commitment to mission with a proven ability to mobilize volunteers, donors, and partners. Collectively, these honorees champion causes essential to our region’s well-being and to creating lasting, high‑impact change.

“Arbella’s culture of giving back and volunteerism inspires us,” said Gail Mocklin, Executive Director and Co-Founder of Pave Your Path. “This $20,000 gift combined with the continuous volunteer time and energy from Arbella employees and agents will boost our one-on-one coaching and workshops for women working toward economic independence and emotional strength. We’re so grateful to the Arbella Insurance Foundation for this donation and their continued partnership.”

Charities selected to receive the $20,000 grants include:

  • BAY-CASH (Cambridge, MA)
  • Beat Childhood Cancer (Braintree, MA)
  • Berkshire County Kids Place (Pittsfield, MA)
  • Camp Shriver (Boston, MA)
  • Casa Myrna (Boston, MA)
  • Community Connections (across New England)
  • Compassionate Care ALS (West Falmouth, MA)
  • Fill-A-Need (Lowell, MA)
  • First H.E.L.P. (Worcester, MA)
  • Homeless Not Hopeless (Hyannis, MA)
  • Huntington Food Pantry (Huntington, MA)
  • Lazarus House (Lawrence, MA)
  • Learn to Cope (Taunton, MA)
  • Malden Overcoming Addiction (Malden, MA)
  • The Marion Institute (Marion, MA)
  • Pave Your Path (Attleboro, MA)
  • Save A Suit (Bethel, CT)
  • Kingston Food Pantry (Kingston, MA)
  • Susan B. Anthony Project (Torrington, CT)
  • Vinfen (Cambridge, MA)

“Today’s donations are our way of saying thank you to nonprofit organizations that have stood by our communities for 20 years,” said Robin Jones, Executive Director of the Arbella Insurance Foundation. “We’re honored to support these groups as they change lives across New England. Helping them bring their missions to life is a privilege for all of us.”

Over the last 20 years, the Foundation, along with Arbella employees and independent agents have given more than $45 million to local charitable organizations. This year, the Foundation was named by the Boston Business Journal as one of Boston’s most charitable companies for the seventeenth year in a row.
