With Its Latest Acquisition, Cross Insurance Increases Its Geographic Footprint In Greater Boston

January 31, 2017 by AC Editor

President Insurance Agency’s speciality is in the Ocean Marine and Construction industries

Another Massachusetts independent insurance agency has joined the Cross Insurance family. On January 4th, 2017, Cross Insurance announced its acquisition of the President Insurance Agency.

Agency Checklists, MA Insurance News, Mass. Insurance NewsFounded by George Dolbec in 1995, the agency offers both personal and commercial lines and is based in Quincy. Cross ultimately, however, was attracted to this agency for its well-known specialization and expertise within the Ocean Marine and Construction industries. In particular, in announcing the acquisition, Cross Insurance noted that, “By specializing in Ocean Marine and Construction, President Insurance Agency, Inc. has made a name for itself and writes some of Massachusetts’ leading companies in both industries.”

Cross Insurance now has nine locations in the Greater Boston area alone

According to the terms of the transaction, the agency, while under Cross’ direction, will continue to be run by Mr. Dolbec along with the agency’s staff of five. In addition to expanding its presence within the Ocean Marine and Construction industries, the purchase of the President Agency also greatly expands Cross’ footprint on the South Shore of Boston, with the Maine-based agency now boasting nine locations within a 35 mile radius of downtown Boston.

In return, the President Insurance Agency also will be able to expand its offerings as the newest member of the Cross Insurance family. In addition to greater product offerings, the agency will also be able to add additional carriers to its rosters in order to support new markets and customers that it was previously unable to cater to.

Cross Insurance’s growing presence throughout New England

Founded in 1954 by Woodrow Cross, Cross Insurance has grown via strategic acquisitions over the past 60 years to become one of the largest insurance agencies in New England. Still family-owned and operated, the agency now boasts more than 800 employees operating out of 35 offices located in Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Florida. With the addition of Quincy’s President Insurance Agency, Cross now boasts nine office locations within a 35 mile radius of downtown Boston.
