Arbella Insurance Foundation Raised More Than $220,000 for 164 Hunger Relief Programs Across New England

April 30, 2021 by AC Editor

Foundation in partnership with independent insurance agents and Arbella Insurance Group employees raised more than $1.5M over 13 years

QUINCY, Mass., (April 15, 2021) – The Arbella Insurance Foundation (“Foundation”) has raised more than $220,000 for its annual “Let’s Drive Out Hunger” campaign, supporting hunger relief programs across New England. This year, to help meet the significant increase in need, the Foundation invited Arbella Insurance Group (“Group”) employees to participate in the campaign.

“Year after year, we continue to see the unwavering generosity of the Arbella Insurance Group’s independent agents and employees,” said John Donohue, chairman, president and CEO of the Arbella Insurance Group and chairman of the Arbella Insurance Foundation. “We would like to acknowledge all who donated and are dedicated to supporting the needs of their local communities, especially in these times of immense hardship across our country. Thank you for making a positive impact and for your commitment to fighting hunger in New England.”

Let’s Drive Out Hunger centers on a matching gift program in which the Arbella Insurance Foundation matches donations made by independent agents and Group employees, on a two-to-one basis, up to $1,500 per agency or employee.

From November 1, 2020 through February 28, 2021, independent insurance agents raised more than $60,000 and Group employees raised nearly $20,000. The Foundation matched these amounts at $103,000 and $36,500 respectively for local food pantries, soup kitchens and food programs in communities across New England.

Let’s Drive Out Hunger empowers agents and Group employees alike to select food programs in their own communities that they want to support. 164 food pantries across New England received donations this year, including Weymouth Food Pantry in Weymouth, MA and Northampton Survival Center in Northampton, MA.

ArbelIa Insurance Group employee, Pam Scott was grateful to be included in the cause, stating, “I struggled this year with finding meaningful gifts for my family in the middle of a pandemic. When I saw this program, I immediately knew making a donation to a food pantry in each of their hometowns in their names would be the perfect gift! They enjoyed knowing families in their communities were getting some extra help during these difficult times.”

Additionally, early in the COVID-19 pandemic, the Foundation launched a new program called Give Food x3, which tripled donations from independent insurance agents and Group employees to local food programs impacted by the coronavirus. Collectively, independent agents and Group employees, along with the Foundation match, made a meaningful impact by distributing more than $75,500 to many local food pantries across New England.

“We have all been greatly impacted by the ripples of COVID-19,” said a spokesperson from the Weymouth Food Pantry. “At the pantry, we have seen a large number of families who have come in for help for the first time and the amount of food we are distributing has increased dramatically across the board. Thanks to the Arbella Insurance Foundation, we can help ensure our neighbors have access to food and help ease the fear and anxiety people have been experiencing.”
