Climativ Launches New Climate Risk Platform For P&C Insurers

March 30, 2026 by AC Editor

Climate risk platform showing property-level insurance analytics and hazard data

Climative launches a climate risk platform offering property-level analytics, adaptation plans, and homeowner engagement tools for insurers

There is a new property-level climate intelligence firm in town. Climativ has announced the launch of a climate risk platform designed to help insurers communicate property-level hazard data and portfolio analytics to homeowners through “clear and actionable” guidance, while offering tools to strengthen portfolio management.

The Boston-based company said its platform provides address-level climate risk insights, paired with property-specific adaptation plans, to help homeowners improve resilience, energy performance, and affordability.

Insurers Facing Rising Catastrophe Losses

Climative framed the platform’s launch against increasing catastrophe losses across North America.

According to the company, natural disasters generated approximately $140 billion in insured losses globally in 2024. In the United States, there were 27 billion-dollar events totaling $182.7 billion, based on data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

As these events increase in frequency and severity, insurers face heightened pressure to assess and manage risk at the individual property level.

Moving Beyond Risk Scores

The platform is designed to translate climate risk data into practical guidance for policyholders.

Climative said its system combines a proprietary risk score with home upgrade scenarios and financial forecasting, allowing insurers to move beyond traditional risk scoring models. The platform provides:

  • Address-level hazard ratings, including fire and flood
  • Portfolio analytics to identify concentrations of risk
  • Property-specific adaptation plans
  • Co-branded homeowner portals for policyholder engagement
  • Home upgrade planning tools linking resilience to cost savings, energy performance, comfort, and emissions

The company stated that insurers can deploy the platform as an internal analytics tool, a policyholder engagement solution, or as part of a broader climate adaptation strategy.

Focus on Homeowner Engagement and Transparency

Climative said its platform is built around three principles:

  • “Inclusive action, not just risk scores,” with tailored adaptation plans for each property
  • “Homeowner empowerment,” enabling insurers to communicate risk through practical guidance
  • “Transparent modeling” designed to provide explainable data to policyholders

The platform also allows insurers to incorporate their own data inputs, with Climative emphasizing its ability to convert that data into homeowner-facing recommendations.

Carrier Use Case: Risk Reduction and Policyholder Interaction

Climative said the platform is intended to shift climate risk from a pricing issue to a risk mitigation and engagement opportunity.

“Our goal is to give insurers a way to reduce risk while building trust with policyholders,” said Winston Morton, CEO of Climative. “We help carriers move beyond identifying climate risk to actually fixing it, while giving homeowners clear steps to protect their homes.”

Morton added that insurers require tools that can move beyond modeling exposure.

“Climate risk is putting real financial pressure on insurers,” he said. “They need tools that don’t just model risk, but help reduce it in the real world.”

Built on Existing Deployments

Climative said its technology was originally developed for banks, utilities, and public-sector programs and has been deployed across Canada and the Northeast United States. The new insurance platform adapts those modeling and planning tools for insurer use.

The company noted that increasing scrutiny from regulators and reinsurers on climate exposure is driving demand for solutions that can demonstrate both transparency and measurable risk reduction.
