On September 20, 2023, the New Hampshire Insurance Department announced the confirmation of DJ Bettencourt as the Commissioner of the department, following
approval by the Executive Council. Commissioner Bettencourt has served as Deputy Commissioner since January of 2021 and was nominated by Governor Christopher Sununu.
“At the outset, I want to commend the remarkable team at the New Hampshire Insurance Department, who are committed to serving the people of the Granite State,” said Commissioner Bettencourt. “Over the past year, the department has achieved significant milestones that underscore its commitment to safeguarding consumers and ensuring the stability of the insurance market. These accomplishments include processing an unprecedented number of insurance adjusters and producers, exceeding tax revenue projections, and achieving record consumer recoveries.”
