AssuredPartners Acquires Lehrer & Madden Insurance Agency

May 11, 2021 by AC Editor

Another Massachusetts Independent Agency Joins National Broker

AssuredPartners, Inc. adds another Massachusetts independent insurance agency to its roster. The national broker has announced its acquisition of the Natick-based Lehrer & Madden Insurance Agency, Inc. (Lehrer & Madden). According to the terms of the transaction, the entire Lehrer & Madden team will continue on after the sale of the agency and under the leadership of the agency’s president John F. Doherty.

“The team at Lehrer & Madden conveys true customer service and dedication to their community, and we are pleased to have them join our growing team in the Northeast marketplace.” said Regional President, Lauren Yurick in the official announcement.

A Metro-West independent insurance agency for over eight decades

Founded in Natick in 1936, Lehrer & Madden has been serving its clients throughout Boston’s MetroWest region for over eight decades. “Our family has always enjoyed special relationships with our clients, our carriers and our employees.” said John Doherty in commenting on the sale of his family’s agency. His brother and Vice President, Michael Doherty, added, “I am confident that all parties will enjoy working with the experienced staff at AssuredPartners and will continue to enjoy the warm and friendly atmosphere that has always been a hallmark of our agency.”

“The Doherty family has known Robert Ramsey, AssuredPartners Agency President (formerly WTPhelan) for decades,” added John Doherty. Consequently, when it came time to sell their agency, the brothers selected AssuredPartners believing it would provide a seamless transition for their valued customers.

This marks AssuredPartner’s 1st acquisition in May and its 17th thus far in 2021

The addition of Lehrer & Madden marks AssuredPartners’ third Massachusetts acquisition this year and its 17th national acquisition overall in 2021.

Prior to 2020, AssuredPartners did not have a major presence in either New England or Massachusetts. Starting in 2020 with the acquisition of the well-known WTPhelan Insurance Agency, however, the national broker has become a much more familiar presence throughout the region. Following that acquisition, the broker went on to acquire People’s United Insurance Agency in the fall of 2020. Apart from Lehrer & Madden, in 2021 AssuredPartners also has acquired Massachusetts’ Fessenden & Sykes Insurance Agency and The Joseph A. Glynn Insurance Agency.

In addition to the above acquisitions in New England, the company named national broker Lauren Yurick as Regional President for the Northeast in December 2020.

Outside of the Northeast, however, AssuredPartners has long been a well-known national broker and one of the most active acquirers of agencies in the country. Headquartered in Lake Mary, Florida, AssuredPartners, Inc. has long acquired and invested in insurance brokerage businesses (property and casualty, employee benefits, surety, and MGU’s) across the United States and in London. From its founding in March of 2011, AssuredPartners has grown to over $1.6 billion in annualized revenue and continues to be one of the fastest-growing insurance brokerage firms in the United States with over 190 offices in 34 states and over 7,500 employees based in North America, London, Belgium, and Scotland.
