Kaplansky Insurance has announced its latest agency acquisition and the second one so far in 2021, the Russ Towers Insurance Agency. With this latest acquisition, the Needham-based agency has officially acquired 36 independent insurance agencies throughout Massachusetts. More importantly, however, this latest acquisition marks the first time the agency has bought a location with an office outside of Massachusetts
Agency’s 36th acquisition opens new opportunities
“This is the start of a new chapter for us,” states Ely Kaplansky, President, and CEO of Kaplansky Insurance. “As we continue to grow and expand our business, uniting with Russ Towers Insurance Agency allows us to reach clientele based in the Rhode Island area and continue our expansion into additional New England states.”
Mr. Kaplansky also notes the merger will fast-track Kaplansky Insurance’s mission to provide the most competitive pricing in personal and commercial insurance services to a larger part of the New England region.
A family-run independent agency for over three decades
Founded by Russ Towers, the family-run agency has operated out of its Tiverton, RI location since 1980. Over the years, Mr. Towers’ children, Donna Towers Lemos, Scott Towers, and Mark Towers, joined him to work at the agency, helping to grow the agency. In 1988, Donna’s husband, John, opened a second location in Seekonk, MA, with the guidance and backing of Russ Towers.
Donna Towers Lemos ultimately became the President of Russ Towers Insurance Agency. Her dedication to the agency and the insurance industry is evident. In commenting on the sale of her family’s agency she noted, “We have enjoyed helping generations of families in our communities with their insurance needs and have been honored and humbled by their support of our agency.”
According to the terms of the acquisition, Donna will join Kaplansky Insurance as Agency Manager of the Seekonk office, while John Lemos will serve as Personal Lines Account Manager.
In commenting on their decision to join Kaplansky Insurance, Mr. Kaplansky expressed his excitement, stating, “We are thrilled that two professionals of the highly qualified Russ Towers team will be joining us.”
