May 6, 2024 by AC Editor

This is the Agency’s first acquisition in Massachusetts since 2023

Hub New England is growing again. The local headquarter of the leading global insurance brokerage and financial services firm announced that it has acquired the assets of William R. Cargill Insurance Agency, Inc. (Cargill Insurance). According to the terms of the transaction, founder William “Bill” Cargill, Jr. and the Cargill Insurance team will join Hub New England. Going forward, Cargill Insurance will be referred to as William R. Cargill Insurance Agency, a Hub International company. No further terms of the transaction were disclosed.

“We are excited to welcome Bill Cargill and his team to the Hub family,” said Timm Marini, President of Personal Lines Insurance at Hub New England. “Bill’s energy, enthusiasm and ethics are infectious. This partnership complements our commitment to deliver exceptional products, service and value to our customers.”

Based in Topsfield, Massachusetts, Cargill Insurance is a family owned and operated full-service insurance agency providing personal coverage for home, auto, personal umbrella, boat and life Insurance, and commercial and general liability insurance. According to the Cargill Insurance website, the building that houses the agency has been a landmark since 1949 when Bill Cargill, Jr.’s dad built it.

The current Mr. Cargill’s father, Bill Cargill Sr., originally opened the agency after being discharged from World War II as a highly decorated pilot. According to the agency’s website he earned the Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal with 8 Oak leaf clusters with 65 missions over Europe. After the war, he returned home to help his mother with her real estate practice eventually opening up Cargill Insurance.
